Division Overview:
Hubbell Lighting, Inc., is a core business platform of Hubbell Incorporated. The platform supplies a comprehensive range of indoor and outdoor lighting products to industrial, commercial and institutional applications and is the largest manufacturer of residential lighting fixtures in North America.
Position Overview:
The Industrial Design Engineer works closely with Brand Manager, Product Manager, Sales, Marketing and the other members of the Product Development & Engineering staff to develop sketches, blueprints and 3D/2D Renderings for new and existing solid state lighting products/fixtures/accessories, per the scope of work, primarily targeted at the architectural, commercial and specification lighting markets. As a member of the Product Development team, the Industrial Design Engineer is primarily involved in the entire product development process, including ideation, competitive analysis, concept design, design development, prototyping and documentation. The secondary product development responsibilities of the Industrial Design Engineer will also include cost, material and manufacturing process analysis and the identification and evaluation of alternatives, design for compliance and other regulatory compliance, tooling development and production release. In order to execute his/her development projects, the Industrial Design Engineer interfaces extensively with multiple departments within the company including Brand/Product Management, Sales, Marketing, Operations, Quality, Sustaining and Plant Engineering, Technical Support, Purchasing, Marketing Services, Plant Production Control and Finance. He/She interfaces with independent sales agents and customers as this is also required during ideation, prototype and introduction phases of the development process.
Responsibilities include:
The Industrial Design Engineer is often called upon by the NPD Engineering Manager to participate in product and/or market research and analysis in regards to the development process.
The Industrial Design Engineer works in partnership with the NPD Engineering Manager and other personnel as required to proactively identify, develop, present and implement product development programs for the lighting brand.
The Industrial Design Engineer is also responsible for the successful execution of each product development project to which he/she is assigned.
The Industrial Design Engineer works with the other members of the Development Team as required to execute the project according to the development schedule.
The Industrial Design Engineer works with Engineering to prepare, submit and maintain project plans / schedules and submits project reports as required.
The Industrial Design Engineer reviews and integrates component and material performance specifications, conducts reviews and evaluates performance tests of designed components, assemblies, materials or processes to assure that completed design meets specifications.
The Industrial Design Engineer coordinates the production of models, mock-ups and prototypes to inform the development process, establish feasibility per scope of work.
The Industrial Design Engineer reviews cost estimates with the team as required throughout the design process and identifies / evaluates cost-saving alternatives to guide the development of the product.
The Industrial Design Engineer Interfaces with existing and potential technology experts related to projects and to maintain an awareness of lighting technologies that may be applied to current and future projects.
The Industrial Design Engineer Develops final industrial design renderings and engineering documentation for release to engineering, manufacturing, including drawings, specifications and cost estimates.
The Industrial Design Engineer acquires patents to protect innovative product designs by conducting patent searches and feasibility studies and by actively interfacing with corporate patent attorneys.
The Industrial Design Engineer maintains an up-to-date understanding of the market and its technology by interfacing closely with technology partners, attending industry conferences and seminars and through contact with sales personnel, customers and others in the company.
The Industrial Design Engineer participates in design reviews, concept, prototype and other presentations to customers.
The Industrial Design Engineer conducts other activities and special projects as required at the direction of the Engineering Manager.
The Industrial Design Engineer performs varied duties (including but not limited to the above accountabilities) involved in the operation of departmental programs, projects and activities characterized by a confidential nature and/or requiring the use of discretion, judgment, tact and knowledge of applicable operations and personnel.
Skills &
Experience:
A Bachelors Degree in Industrial Design and/or Mechanical and /or related design degree is required.
Minumum of 2 to 5
years of industrial design experience is required and at least 2 to 5 years in Lighting Industry is preferred.
Expertise in Solid Edge / Solid Works is reuired and SAP software systems is preferred.
Knowledge and experience with professional design & engineering software systems is required. Keyshot, Solid Edge modeling design software experience is strongly preferred. Electrical, Electronics and Optical design experience is preferred but not mandatory.
Proficiency in Windows-based computer systems and office software is required.
MS PowerPoint skillset is required and Proficiency with MS Project is preferred.
Knowledge of UL/CUL/CSA standards is preferred.
The ability to work within a matrix environment is required.
Digital and visual communication skills using traditional sketching and digital media (Keyshot. Photoshop, Illustrator, PowerPoint, etc or similar) are required.
Travel may up to 10%.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
